One of the traditions for Songkran is to release fish and birds. The idea is that you are making merit by doing a good deed for caged animals. Of course, someone had to cage them in the first place so that you could release them!
This is a picture that I took on my iPhone of the winner of Miss Songkran. It is taken at Wat Prodket where we went after the parade to release the fish and birds.
This picture shows the Governor of Samut Prakan as they are about to release the fish and birds. I took a lot more pictures on my DSLR which I will upload later tonight at www.paknamphotos.com. It has been a long and tiring day but there were many good photo opportunities.
